Trapped in India: Foods

Hello everyone! This week, I was planning to go to Japan, but my flight path went through India, and as you know, no one can go anywhere to or from India because of the volcano in Iceland. So, I'm now trapped in India! (Not as bad as it sounds.)

To be more specific, I thought I'd let you know that I'm actually in Mumbai, India. Rather than stay cooped up in the airport, I wondered outside to a great surprise. FOOD! Hundreds of stands all lined up along the streets of Mumbai. I knew that I'd have to try some...

The first thing I tried was a sort of snow cone like food. It was shaved ice dipped into a cup to be shaped. Then, fruity flavoring syrups are put in the cup for you to dip the shaved ice popsicle thing into. My favorite flavor was definitely grape. I liked the others too, but grape was the best.

As I walked along, I started to notice that the food was different in different places, meaning that food in the North was different from food in the South. I'm not sure what that's all about, but all of them were good.

One of the worst experiences there was when I tried a meat kabob-like thing. I didn't know that it was going to be so spicy, but it was. WOW! I felt like it was burning holes in my throat. I finally got it down though and ran to a place where I could get cooled down.

Something I noticed was that the stands stayed open until about 11:00 at night, and people were still eating and talking until then. I guess people in Mumbai really like food!
