Sadly, today is my last day in Tanzania. On the other hand, we're going to Zanzibar today! Zanzibar is basically two islands pushed together, with beaches on the coasts. Off the coast, there are coral reefs and alluring blue water perfect for boating and swimming. Which is what we did.
The boat we rode in had a clear glass bottom so that we could see down into the reef. It was so magnificent and colorful that I didn't want to leave. Once, a small shark swam under the boat, and Hannah got a little worried, but we noticed that it looked up and swam away quickly, which showed that he was more afraid of us than we were of him.Later on, we went swimming of the coast of a peninsula. We brought snorkels so that we could see the reef up close, and it was even more amazing when we were right next to it. I saw at least a hundred fish including the Kungu, Mbaraga, Ngacha, and the Kavungwa.
I really wanted to just break off some coral and put it into a fish tan
k or something, but Cristian said that it was illegal. The coral was a rainbow of colors, and the fish just glowed next to it. It was so beautiful, and the water was so warm, that I could've fallen asleep right there and then. Finally, it was time to leave. Our plane didn't leave 'til about 10:30, but we had to use most of our time packing. On the flights back to LA, I kept thinking about all the things I had learned in Tanzania. I now knew that water shouldn't be taken for granted, and that you can die if you don't get enough, or it is too dirty. Seeing all the wild-life made me realize how small I was and how big everything else was, not to mention the world. It sort of made me respect everything more. I know I will keep Tanzania in my heart forever.
Mungu Ibariki Tanzania!
