Right in the center of the town is a castle that I was allowed to take a tour of. The thing was immense considering the size of the town. It was visible from everywhere in the town. I'm sure that it is one of the main tourist attractions.
Another attraction is the Vltava (no idea how to pronounce it). The Vltava is the longest river in the whole Czech Republic and it runs straight through Český Krumlov. Luckily, it was not completely frozen, and I took a kayak "ride" on it. It was very beautiful, with the castle covered in snow, and chimney smoke sometimes warming me up.
Happily, I was never at risk of falling over. There wasn't much of a current in the water, and no other kayakers. So I had a nice, peaceful, relaxing ride, except when I had to paddle! That was the hard part, because there was ice in a lot of places and wind on every side of me. Plus, gripping like that for so long in the cold, SHIVERS! I don't know if I'd do that again, even though it was nice that time.
After dinner, more schnitzel of course (which has now become my favorite food), I just took a walk around. Almost all of the buildings were orangy-brown with white, snowy roofs. I really wanted to see the inside of one, and I almost asked someone, but then I thought better of it, and moved along. At least I got to see the inside of my hotel.
Finally, it was time for bed. I had had a long, cold day, and I was ready to just slide under my covers, and that's exactly what I did. I hope that I can go back to Český Krumlov some day in the summer, I really want to have a warmer kayak ride...
