Wednesday

Today I left to Kibuye to have a boat ride on Lake Kivu. I looked around on the shore for a place that would give boat rides. I finally found a neat little shop that would rent me a boat for not much money. So, I rented it, and spent the entire afternoon resting in the middle of the lake.

I saw a lot of different animals on the shore and in the water. There were millions of little fish passing underneath my little vessel. A few times, a fish jumped out of the water; probably showing off to another fish. It was really funny.

The lake was very hot, so I had to re-apply sunscreen a lot. Some other Rwandans looked strangely at me. They were probably thinking Why is this white person putting cream on himself that makes him more white? I think one might have asked, but I couldn't speak enough Kinyarwandan to answer him.

I think that I fell asleep in my boat at one point, because one moment, the sun was right above me, and the next, it was halfway to the horizon. Also, I had "beached" my minute ship on one of the shores. However, I didn't have to work very hard to get it back on the lake. After that, I was pretty alert the whole time.

Which was good, because I fell out of my boat after a while. I think what happened was I was watching a little fish swimming under my boat. This eventually resulted in me rocking the boat so much that it tipped, I lost my balance, and I fell out. Luckily, I already knew how to get back in my boat, and I ended up being safe.

It was very still on the lake, and when I had to paddle, I had no problems at all. Not only was the lake nice, but it was quite pretty too. It was a beautiful day, and so I could see how blue the lake was. And then with the mountains on one shore, it was all just so perfect that I want to go back as soon as I can!
