Saturday

This morning I woke up with a frown on my face. Not the best way to start a post, but it's true. Today is my last day in the Czech Republic, and I have no idea whether Olomouc (for some reason pronounced olla-moats) will be a cool place or a strange and boring place.

On my way, I saw a community center that said SOS Children's Villages. I went in to see if it was a charity or something else, and it was a charity. Turns out, it shelters orphans of all ages. I really want to help them out, so when I go home I'm going to check out their website if they have one.

I have absolutely NO IDEA why I had any doubt WHATSOEVER about Olomouc. It was really, really excellent of course! There were almost no tourists, and everyone else was at the university, so it was as if I had my own petite, quaint, little town. I didn't know what to do first!

I'm glad I figured something out soon, or I would have been stuck for quite a while. I decided to visit the university, see what it was like. The campus looked quite amazing, but I really wondered about the inside.

It was a bit disappointing though; they didn't allow visitors in except on Mondays-Fridays, 9 A.M. to 2 P. M. The school had Saturday classes I guess, and they must really need the Saturdays or something. At least I got to see the campus.

Since I couldn't go in the school, I chose to take a walk and find something else to do. Eventually, I came to a town square, and believe me, this square was just as delightfully charming as Prague's!

There was a statue in the middle, but I'm not sure what it was. From what I could actually see, the bottom looked like people, and Jesus was on the top. Of course, I'm completely unsure about this. But there's a picture. --->

Anyway, later on, I found out that there were a number of fountains in Olomouc. I went to a few of them, just to see why they were mentioned. That's when I found out. They were great (for lack of a better word)! I loved all of them! I felt the water of one of them, and it was freezing cold on my hand, yet soft too, if that makes sense.

One of the fountains, I'm not sure which, kinda smelt funny. It was probably from what they put in the water, but I didn't want to get very close.

The next fountain I went to was called Neptune Fountain. There was a plaque on the side that said it was made in 1683. That's pretty old!!!!!!!! Yet it was still smooth and shiny.

Then I went back to my hotel. I had to get up at about 5 so that I could go back to Prague and catch my plane at 6 A. M. Oh! I almost forgot! Here's a link to the SOS Children's Villages: http://www.soschildrensvillages.org.uk/sponsor-a-child/europe/czech. Well, as they say in the Czech Republic, na shledanou (goodbye)!
