Third day in Uruguay... Isn't three supposed to be the magic number, like third time's a charm. Nothing against my first and second days (I loved them!), but I wonder if this will be the best...

I think, that so far, it might have been the best. At least, it was the best food all around. Today I stopped by Mercado del Puerto. Directly translated, it means Market of Port... Umm... Well, it used to be a train station, so I think it means something like the Port Market, as in, a market that used to be a port...? I'm not quite sure.

Anyway, its a big market full of smaller stalls, but most of them were centered around meat: chicken, steak, sausage, and many other things. A carnivore's heaven, but a vegetarian's nightmare. I walked over to a "less crowded" stall and tried to order something, but there was too much of a crowd jostling me around. Finally, I got to the front and placed my order. Just one nice, juicy piece of steak. About 10 minutes later it came out and I took a bite.

I was at a loss for words. It was the most delicious and flavorful steak I had ever had. Sometimes, the middle of the meat is really chewy and hard to swallow, but when it isn't, the outside is really hard. Well, this stuff was perfect! The middle was a little chewy, but not so much that it never came apart, while the edge was hard, but not so hard that I couldn't eat it. And on the outside, a so many spices and flavors that I couldn't tell what they were.

All I knew was that I wanted more! I ordered two more (I was pretty hungry) and ate them in silence, pondering and thinking about everything this steak was; mouth-watering - check. Flavorful - check. Juicy - check. Easy to eat - check. Check check check check check check check. WOW was that steak good! If you ever end up going to Uruguay, make sure to check out Mercado del Puerto.

BEST STEAK EVER!!!!!!!!
