Sunday

Hurray!!!!! I'm finally in Prague after that sixteen hour flight. I saw so much on my first real day! The first thing I did was go to Old Town Square. It was very busy, and I could barely move, but it was just as breathtaking anyway. It was surrounded by little cafes and shops, but the main thing I wanted to see was the big statue in the middle. It was so huge I had to look straight up to see it!

There were also bigger buildings. One was called the Municipal House. Inside, I read that in the 1900s, it was built to replace the royal court. It was just about the prettiest thing I had ever seen! There were tapestries everywhere and the whole thing was built differently. There were also sculptures that were very detailed around the place. My favorite part was the glass top it had. I could see straight out into the sky. Of course, that wasn't exactly pretty, because it was very foggy outside.

But not only was this place there to see, it was also used as a music hall. I happened to be just in time to see and hear a performance going on that day only. The music was beautiful, and it echoed around just enough to sound good. Dum, da dee dum, la la lee da doh dum, doo doo, ba deem, da dee dum... So beautiful, but I can't tell you what it sounded like. I would put up a video, but no film was allowed. They said it could make sounds that would destract the performers. Oh well.

When that was over, I noticed it was about 4:00, seeing as I had woken up at about 2:00 their time (4:00 our time). I noticed a museum. I thought I might go in to see what the Czech Republic is all about. The inside was amazing as well, but again, no pictures allowed. I read so much about the Czech Republic's history, I had no idea it had so much! Finally I finished and went back outside. It was getting to be about dinner time there, so I popped into one of the cafes. It was called Cafe Maia. It was really good, but I couldn't really understand what any of the food was, and therefore, I don't really remember. I finished and went back to my hotel, where I tried to go to sleep and get rid of that jet-lag.

Jamie, how do you say WOW in Czech? What an incredible journey you took us on. So well researched, you got the most out of 7 days in a place many travelers these days find incredibly fascinating. I only wish I could have traveled on some links or heard some of that music in the background.

Děkuji!!!
